“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

-Carl Rogers

Below are a few of the treatment modalities that I may incorporate into our work together. These include but are not limited to, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, humanistic and family systems.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic explores how our current behaviors are shaped by experiences from our past, as well as present day experiences and relationships with others. It can help people learn to recognize patterns in behavior and relationships. Through gaining greater understanding of our patterns, we are better able to find new approaches to coping with current issues.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT teaches people how to live in the present moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate our emotions and improve relationships with others. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them to learn to alter their unhelpful behaviors.

Family Systems

Family systems theory views families as a system composed of interrelated parts, such that a problem for any member of a family has an effect on all members. The goal is to promote a healthier family system and improve the well-being of individuals within that system.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT focuses on how our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect our feelings and actions. CBT aims to identify harmful thoughts, assess whether they are an accurate depiction of reality, and, if they are not, employ strategies to challenge and overcome them.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

EFT is a form of short-term therapy which is based on the idea that “I feel, therefore I am”. EFT puts emotional experiences and reactions front and center and proposes that first we feel, and then we think. It is based on attachment theory and the importance it places on connection to others as a source of feelings of comfort and safety that leads to lasting change.
